31 Oils in 31 Days Series--Day 20 Cardamom Essential Oil!

Day 20--Cardamom Essential Oil!

Native to Southeast Asia, Cardamom is well known as a versatile cooking spice but did you know it has fabulous health benefits also?!

Most commonly, Cardamom is used to support healthy digestive function. It can soothe that after-meal stomach discomfort quickly.

For stomach discomfort following a heavy meal or irresistible dessert, simply massage 1-2 drops of Cardamom essential oil over the area of concern (or take them in a glass of water).

Cardamom’s distinct minty aroma can freshen your breath. Simply place a drop on the tongue to sweeten your breath.

Another great benefit of Cardamom is its powerful effect on the respiratory system. Its high cineole content supports healthy breathing. You can apply it topically or diffuse it in the bedroom or work space of any family member who wants respiratory support.

Cardamom is also known to be uplifting, and mentally clearing. This is a great essential oil to choose when working through issues of anger, frustration, blame or judgment.

Another great attribute of Cardamom is its safety for children. It’s gentler than other oils used for similar reasons, such as eucalyptus and peppermint. You should still dilute with carrier oil, however, for little bodies. As with any new essential oil, always test for skin sensitivity. Avoid contact with eyes, inner ears, and other sensitive areas. (A good place to test for sensitivity is the bottoms of feet.)  Also, if you’re pregnant, nursing, or under a doctor’s care, consult with your physician before using.

The very best is sourced from cardamom seeds grown in Guatemala.
