31 Essential Oils in 31 Days Series: Day 3 Spotlight Frankincense!

 Day 3--Frankincense!

Many of us have heard of Frankincense (Olibanum) from its reference in the bible.  But what exactly is it?  This highly prized essential oil is derived from tree sap from the Boswellia tree and is known for its relaxing and sweet smell. There are many ways to use this calming, revitalizing and uplifting oil.

Because of the emotional and spiritual affect of Frankincense it is often used in meditation and prayer.  It is known to help a person move to their center of consciousness and elevate ones spiritual practice.  Who wouldn’t love to feel more centered and balanced in the new year?

Frankincense is also used by the cosmetic industry in conjunction with Myrrh and Lavender for its ability to reduce fine wrinkles and lines with its tonic effect.  Simply apply a little to your face morning and night to help restore tone to slack looking facial skin and help slow down the appearance of wrinkles. In addition to using Frankincense on my face, I apply a couple drops on my fingernails and cuticles to strengthen heal dry cracked nails.

Be sure to give Frankincense a try!
